Amidst the recent fall in the music industry, how can an artist survive in a time where thousands of celebrities lie and wait for people’s attention, it is almost impossible for one to standout in show business. In the world of music, an artist must speak their minds to be understood, and an artist must leave an impressionable mark to the general public; certainly Lady Gaga has no problem in giving an impression. The growth of Lady Gaga as an artist went through exceptional lengths that brought her fame and fortune that no one her age could ever imagine.

Legends like Jackson, Bowie, Mercury, Lennon, Madonna and even Whitney have achieved success that only few could imagine, and certainly Lady Gaga has reached that success. An Icon in the world of music, and a trend setter in the world of fashion, Lady Gaga is truly one of a kind. Seen as provocative and even odd by most the people, Lady Gaga can keep you wondering what’s next. Though mostly misunderstood by the people, Gaga dares to bold and different and even one of a kind.

While Lady Gaga’s fashion and music have always been related to each other, whether it’s addressing musical genre through fashion, or whether it’s addressing musical content with clothes. Whether it’s dressing up or dressing down, fashion for Lady Gaga certainly isn’t just about looking good; it’s about speaking your mind. And that is certainly not a problem, with garments that not only catches people’s attention, but also makes them riot against it; garments that obits around your head, or even just raw meat, Lady Gaga doesn’t fail to entertain and leave a mark wherever she is. Lady gaga embodies confidence that can’t be shut down by any critic, and as her song goes, “I was born this way baby!”. With lyrical content that are inspired by women and the gay community, Lady Gaga’s fans or as she would call them her ‘Little Monsters’ aren’t ordinary. In fact they come from all walks of life, which inspire the ‘Mother Monster’ to make music that only the intellect and the free would appreciate.

Challenging modern society to understand her music has always been her main concern; whether it’s lyrical content that discusses self-expression and acceptance, or even teen angst with the underlying themes of sexuality and religion; Lady Gaga says what she has to say. A genius in the eyes of many, Lady Gaga is said to have studied ‘The art of fame’ perfectly, mastering the fame of how celebrities live in Hollywood and how she can live a life in the norm with letting people focus in her career and not in her personal life. Even the great Tony Bennett cited Lady Gaga as ‘America’s Picasso’, with her energy never running out, and her creativity that surpasses beyond the norm; certainly Lady Gaga has proven her talent with fans and musicians alike.

Aside from being an icon in music; she is also a genius in marketing her career. Using social media as an effective marketing strategy, with over 29 million followers on Twitter, 54 million subscribers on Facebook, and millions of fans around the world, surely Lady Gaga can sell music with just one click of button. With Gaga’s creative team called the ‘Haus of Gaga’ which is modeled on Andy Warhol’s Factory, Lady Gaga has no problem is promoting brand of music

About the project:

Before these pictures can exist, the sky from one place has to be superimposed upon cityscape from another. It is impossible to see this detail in the night sky above a city. Atmospheric and light pollution combine to make looking into the urban sky like looking past bright headlights while driving.

By travelling to places free from light pollution but situated on precisely the same latitude as his cities, Cohen obtains skies which, as the world rotates about its axis, are the very ones visible above the cities a few hours earlier or later. To find the right level of atmospheric clarity, Cohen has to go into the wild places of the earth, the Atacama, the Mojave, the western Sahara.

As more and more of the world’s population becomes urban, and as we lose our connection with the natural world, so it becomes plain that damage is caused by light pollution. There may be connections to certain cancers, and there are psychological burdens of permanent day. The ‘city that never sleeps’ is made up of millions of individuals breaking natural cycles of work and repose. Lose sight of the sky, and you become a rat in a lab.

Cohen hasn’t simply shown us the skies that we’re missing. His cities look dead under the fireworks display above No lights in the windows, no tracers of traffic. They are (in fact) photographed in daylight, when lights shine out less brightly. In urban mythology the city teems with energy and illumines everything around it. Cohen’s pictures are crafted to say the opposite. These are cold cities, cut off from the seemingly infinite energies above.

With one of the most mind-shatteringly beautiful scores I’ve encountered, Cloud Atlas left me utterly destroyed, and yet my entire existence felt so wholly verified, bleeding as it was on the floor. Magnificent.
